AirBnB Icon Series are offering the experience of a night fighting in the Roman Colosseum… for reals

Rome wasn’t built in a day but a film production company can pretty much get a full Gladiator set happening in and around the Colosseum in under a week.

In partnership with Paramount Pictures, to celebrate the release of Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated film, Gladiator II, online accommodation booking site, Airbnb, announced its newest and most legendary Icon yet. Guests are invited inside the Colosseum after dark to partake in a unique and authentic gladiator experience that they won’t find anywhere else.

Part of AirBnB’s Icon Series, this experience is not an actual stay, of course (ie: you won’t be able to stay in the Colosseum overnight, duh) but guests will have the famed landmark all to themselves for a night. Still, even the old Romans couldn’t be there without strict supervision!

For centuries, the Roman Colosseum has been the stage for epic battles and legendary gladiators, but never has it been open to the public after dark… until now.

Guest, or ‘Warriors’, have the opportunity to step inside the historic arena once traversed by victorious fighters, suit up in historically accurate armour, and put their skills to the test to determine their fate in battle.

Courageous souls ready to step into history can request to book this exclusive gladiator experience starting November 28 at 01:00am AEDST at airbnb.com/gladiatormovie through December 10.

There’ll be tons of battle gear to choose to get into some serious cosplay, plus real roaring fires and other touches to give you ye olde ancient Roman feel.
