WIN! Double passes to see ‘Queer’ starring Daniel Craig in the film adaptation of William Burroughs’ famous novel

In 1950s Mexico City, William Lee (Daniel Craig), an American ex-pat in his late forties, leads a solitary life amid a small American community. However, the arrival in town of Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), a young student, stirs William into finally establishing a meaningful connection with someone. Indeed, Lee becomes infatuated with the younger guy and soon enough a certain awkwardness ensues.
The pair establish a relationship, but Allerton maintains an emotional distance from Lee (often seen with a woman), despite Lee’s obvious desire for connection. Allerton explains this by suggesting he does not see himself as ‘queer’ in the same way as Lee does.

Subsequently, the elder invites Allerton to travel with him to South America in the hopes of finding ‘yage’ – a plant said to offer telepathic abilities. Allerton seems reluctant but eventually accepts Lee’s invitation. This is when the viewer takes a real trip down the queer path.
This new film from Academy Award© nominated filmmaker Luca Gaudagnino is based on the novel by William S. Burroughs. premiered at the Venice International Film Festival where is played in competition for Golden Lion award.
