Celebrate International Fried Chicken Day… yep, it’s a thing

Nowadays, there’s no excuse for not trying chicken in a variety of styles. Take a look at the types of fried chicken alone: Southern US style, Buffalo Fried, Buttermilk Coated, Cheese Coated Korean style, Japanese Karaage… the choice is huge!
But did you know there was an actual day dedicated fully to fried chicken? Insane, right?
International Fried Chicken Day is observed especially keenly in the U.S. on July 6. It is unclear how the day originated but a whole bunch of brands like to take advantage of the situation, with fast food restaurants including Popeyes, Church’s Chicken, and of course KFC offering special promotions throughout the day, sometimes even at Australian outlets.

Fun fact: fried chicken was once an expensive delicacy – at least up until World War II – but thanks to mass production techniques, folks the world over are able to indulge in greasy chicky on the cheap.
Oh, and if you’re keen to cook your own fried chicken at home, check out the recipe below.
