AGWA Design Store keeping things nice and green. And pink. And orange. And yellow. And…

With more of a spotlight being shone on all things sustainable (hopefully via LED lighting or something from solar energy), businesses around the globe are shifting towards a better, more eco-friendly way of product manufacturing and packaging while consumers are carefully considering all that we buy.
We now demand transparency, sustainability and reduced waste, seeing upcycling on the rise, and being more and more conscious of the things we use and consume.
It makes sense, then, that the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is hosting an interactive exhibition, Re-PLAY, in which multidisciplinary artist Maxxi Minaxi May not only explores composition, form and the concept of disposable culture but brings focus on the subjects of reusing and upcycling to address the consequences of excessive consumerism.

The AGWA Design Store, too, is encouraging visitors to find the treasure in the throw-away, offering product lines that encourage sustainability. If you’re looking for an environmentally friendly, super cool new handbag, go for a Seashopper Bag made using retired boat sails and coming with a boatload of maritime history. Or the Bubu Bag by Grace Scharf that features 3D printed design using PLA plastic – a sustainable and eco-friendly material made from sources such as corn and sugar cane.

AmUsing Clay is using clay to keep things nice and rustic.
Eco-minded shoppers might also like to check out Koro Island and AmUsing Clay – two Australian creators using recycled silver and repurposed clay, all beautifully handcrafted. Keep it sustainable. Keep it stylish. And keep it proudly local at AGWA Design Store.
