Social Recall: Premiere of hilarious reboot ‘Naked Gun’

A fresh reboot of the comedic flick The Naked Gun is being released August 21 but Perth peeps got a sneak peek of the film at Event Cinemas this week.

The movie stars Liam Neeson as Lieutenant Frank Drebin Jr who wants to follow in his legendary father’s footsteps of stopping crime in the grimy streets of Los Angeles while helping save his police department from shutting down. Drebin meets a femme fatale in Beth Davenport (played perfectly stupdily by Pamela Anderson) who is insistant on assisting in solving a homocide case in which her brother was killed.

The new Naked Gun has all the elements of an hilarious, feelgood film – with vibes akin to classic comedies of the 1980s such as Flying High, Caddyshack, and of course the original Naked Gun.

There’s slapstick, innuendo, fun oneliners, and puns aplenty peppered throughout the script, while the FX better any of the movies thanks to today’s evolved CGI technology. Heck, there’s even a scene that practically beats that one from Something About Mary – and we know you know which scene in Mary we’re talking about.

Cream attended the recent Perth premiere and has the social snaps to prove it (see pics below).

While the world is going to hell, it’s always good to get out to the movies and see a fun film, and this one just might be it. The Naked Gun is in cinemas from August 21.
