‘American Horror Story’ gets its credible vibe back: Season 13 to star AHS alumni Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe and, drum role please, Jessica Lange!

I’m sorry but you know how a lot of actors are afraid of being typecast? Or stuck in the same ensemble a decade or two running (nobody wants to be that close to Woody Allen). Well, if I was an actor and all I got to do was star in anything in Ryan Murphy’s universe, I’d frigging take the job. Heck, if I was trapped like a naughty ghost in the fever dream series that is American Horror Story, I’d take the job, with or without the dental.
Alas, the original duo of devastingly good horror television, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, have just officially announced that ‘American Horror Story’ season 13 is slated for release pre-Halloween 2026. Simple math will tell you that’s about a year from now – which means a pretty big wait.
But the cast, which was announced this weekend, is so well worth that wait. Confirmed to star in the long-awaited new season are AHS alumni (and of course stars of other different, brilliant projects since) Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, Leslie Grossman, and the inimitable acting legend that is Jessica Lange. So, that’s enough to get Gen X-ers and Gen Ys over-excited. But if you come to this article a child of the Zeroes, you may already have read on the interwebs that Ariana Grande will also feature in the new season.
While Ariana may not be alumni, there is a Murphy connection there, since she appeared in the producer-slash-director’s horror series Scream Queens back in 2015. You’ve got to be solid creative genius to make all these marvellous icons work well together on the big and small (and very small) screen. And Murphy/Falchuk are the men to do that.
Here’s a look at the announcement teaser that went out recently – set to the semi-spooky tune of Vera Lynn covering Billie Holiday’s I’ll Be Seeing You (so you know that’s great kooky juju right there already). I’m just hoping there’ll be a version of the song massacred by reverb (maybe even a little backmasking) by the time S13 hits our screens. In the meantime, here’s the teaser clip of sorts.
Must be the season of the witch, but you’ve heard that one already. Where… we wonder, will ‘American Horror Story’, season 13 be set? The cast alone is so impressive (and expansive) that the location’s sure to be big news when announced. Image from Deadline.com.
Now, I’m of Sicilian Italian background and to our culture, the number 13 brings molto fortuna luck. I’m guessing this is the season that will bring the famed anthology series to next-level greatness, following a few seasons of laziness and Kim Kardashian over-acting.
There’s only one character actress who is allowed to inject as much melodrama as she wants into this series, darlings, and I think you know who I’m talking about.
While there is no official imagery to go with the cast announcement trailer, naturally a reuniting like this calls for somewhat familiar set territory – perhaps in eerie New Orleans as seen in Coven, flashbacks maybe to Briarcliff Manor from Asylum, or to the very first location we were introduced to, Murder House itself . There is a large crucifix in one promo pic, which makes this good Catholic-raised fanboy more than content. And please, Mr Murphy, can I contribute to the music supervision on this one? I’m dead serious and will fly myself to LA if I have to.
Anyway, in the meantime, enjoy a fan video made by yours truly that shows you just how close a traumatised-by-religion theme is to my little heart. I’m not sure why I’ve put chickens in the clip, though…
