THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

Alert! Alert! The Terminator is back at Hamer Hall this February complete with awesome new musical accompaniment

Arts Centre Melbourne presents ‘Hear My Eyes – Terminator 2: Judgement Day’.

Remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator said to Sarah, ‘Come with me if you want to live’ whilst both were staring right down to T-1000? A snapshot in cinema engrained in the minds of sci-fi fans the world over.

Well prepare to relive this and many more masterful moments onscreen but with brilliant musical accompaniment as Arts Centre Melbourne once again presents a special screening production of Terminator 2: Judgement Day with live music from Belgian EDM creator, Peter van Hoesen, alongside a laser show from Robin Fox.

It’s all happening at Hamer Hall across February 25-28, 2026 and it’s all set to be as spectacular as any Terminator sequel or spin-off.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day, released in 1991, is a groundbreaking film by Canadian director James Cameron, starring the ever-chiseled Arnold Schwarzenegger as T-800 or, The Terminator. The film also stars Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor – a woman being hunted by The Terminator because her unborn son, John, is destined to lead humanity against a future AI takeover. Incidentally, Hamilton recently joined the cast of Stranger Things, and is as riveting to watch on the small screen as the large.

What makes Terminator and its sequels iconic is that they are stories that weave man, technology and artificial intelligence, and its a tapestry that works as wonderfully on stage in song as it does on film in visuals and dialogue.

Says Haydn Green, Artistic Director of the production: “This is our 21st original production set to a feature film, and will mark our 52nd screening since the inception of Hear My Eyes in 2015 and audiences are sure to resonate with the re-contextualising and a new score.”

Belgian electronic music maker Peter van Hoesen.

For the score, van Hoesen will be teaming with the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS) Synthesiser Ensemble to create a unique ‘soundtrack’ of sorts. He will be joined by Mat Watson, Kat Stathis, Rachael Kim, Madeleine Davey and Gus Franklin from the MESS Ensemble with their collection of rare vintage synthesisers and modular systems. Yes, it’s all very sci-fi goes steampunk.

Added van Hoesen: “My score will be completely electronic, veering away from [the] standard orchestral approach which we hear in most movie scores. Everything starts with aligning the musical storytelling with whatever is happening on screen. From there I can start exploring the different ways in which to enhance the entire experience.”

As inspired by Terminator 2’s digital effects, Robin Fox will create a living digital architecture around the story with the extent of making the visuals into a real volumetric space, therefore, creating an immersive experience for the film lovers alike.

This production is certainly one not to miss if you love the film or if you appreciate unique live (and electronic) symphony. Go on the, treat yourself to a once in a lifetime screening and immersive sound experience, and until then, hasta la vista, baby.
