Indie film director and husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, Jeff Baena, has died by suicide

Jeff Baena, Hollywood director and screenwriter and husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, has been found dead, aged 47.

Baen’s body was discovered by an assistant yesterday morning, with police officers arriving at his home and pronouncing him dead at the scene at around 10.40am; it is understood Baen had hung himself.

The independent filmmaker had created several cinematic projects with little impact, including The Little Hours, Horse Girl and Joshy. He also directed partner Aubrey in the films Life After Beth (2014) and Spin Me Round (2022).

Aubrey Plaza was supposed to be presenting an award at the Golden Globes this week but looks like pulling out, obviously due to the tragic circumstances.
