THE NEW. RETRO. MODERN.

It’s International Chicken Nugget Day… yes, we live in times when this is a thing

November 13th is Chicken Nugget Day, and not just nationally, but around the globe. The holiday was created in 2016 to celebrate an inherent part of American food and yet somehow it has reached our shores.

Red Rooster, for example, is celebrating by offering 6 nuggets for just two bucks. The restaurant asks you to spend $25 or more and use code 6NUGGS at checkout, and the two-buck nuggs are yours.

While today chicken nuggies are a mass-produced fast food item, agricultural scientist Robert C. Baker invented them as early as 1963. It all started during World War II when chicken became many Americans’ primary source of protein due to a beef shortage. When the war ended, their appetite for chicken diminished until bite-size breaded chicken sticks that could be easily fried and frozen were invented.

Lovers of fast food have never looked back.
