Netflix announces a new docuseries that focuses on the rise and rise of pop superstar Kylie Minogue

Despite a career spanning five decades, it’s interesting to note that Kylie Minogue has not had an official full-length documentary created about her career. Some beaut YouTube clips from superfans, yes, but nothing of actual high-res, multi-cam, super-duper doco standards. Alas, today Netflix has announced that a documentary, aptly titled KYLIE is currently in production.
The new doco promises to present an intimate and reflective portrait of Minogue, tracing her extraordinary rise from Australian soap star to global pop icon.
Announced as a three-part docuseries, the project promises to go beyond the glossy surface of fame, so as to explore the personal and professional experiences that have defined Kylie’s expansive career.
One of the doco’s most compelling aspects is its access to Minogue’s private archives. Viewers can expect never-before-seen home videos, personal photographs and candid reflections that are sure to reveal a more vulnerable side of the artist. Rather than simply celebrating the artist’s success, the series will examine the pressures of public life, including media scrutiny, personal loss and health challenges, all of which have shaped Kylie’s resilience and identity.

The documentary also places strong emphasis on Minogue’s longevity in an industry where careers are often fleeting if not here-today-gone-tomorrow thanks to shorter attention spans of music listeners today, and the ease in which one can become an overnight sensation come nobody in the span of a month.
With over 80 million records sold, she is portrayed as an artist who has continually reinvented herself while maintaining a distinct pop sensibility. From her early days on Neighbours to global hits including I Should Be So Lucky, Can’t Get You Out of My Head, and Padam Padam, the series will chart a pop sensation’s evolution across ever-changing musical eras, along with, hopefully, some of her many collaborations across the fields of fashion, fragrance creation, the arts, and even wine-making!
Directed by Emmy and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Michael Harte, KYLIE will also feature interviews with key figures in Minogue’s life, including family members, collaborators, and fellow artists. Expect conversations with the likes of Nick Cave, Jason Donovan, and Kylie’s sister, Dannii.
Ultimately, KYLIE is being positioned as both a celebration and a revelation, sure to highlight not just the glittering career of a pop superstar but the persistence, reinvention, and often emotional depth behind it all.
