Ikea’s gone a bit Wonka: introducing a Meat Flavoured Lollipop in a kooky collab with Chupa Chups

IKEA has always blurred the boundary between furniture store and food destination, but its latest idea sounds like something dreamt up mid–flatpack assembly with a few Oompa Loompas running around taste-testing curious savoury sweets.

The brand has this week officially launched a meatball-flavoured lollipop in a kooky collaboration with Chupa Chup.

The concept debuted on April 1 as a kind of April Fool’s Day joke, only the company’s manufacturing department took things a little further and actually made the savoury thing, turning the Wonka of an idea into a genuine limited-edition treat.

The lollipop is inspired by the chain’s iconic Swedish meatballs and their lingonberry pairing though notably, it contains no actual meat and is 100% vegan.

So yes, it’s real, but not exactly permanent. These lollipops are more of a playful marketing exercise than a new staple, with the pops set to appear in select stores as free samples rather than a product you can stockpile.

Absurd? Definitely. Fake? Not anymore.
