Get set for a film that might just have you rolling in the aisles. I Love Boosters is an absurdist comedy written by Boots Riley, who was responsible for the surreal comedy television series I’m A Virgo.

The story hones in on ‘The Velvet Gang’, a crew of professional shoplifters led by aspiring designer Corvette (Keke Palmer), who target cutthroat fashion icon Christie Smith (Demi Moore) when she steals one of Corvette’s designs. They plan to boost Christie ’s entire inventory but inadvertently spark a movement for retail and factory workers around the world. Consider it a community service!

For the record, ‘boost’ is street talk for stealing, full stop. These girls usually boost product then resell it to the local community at steep, knockdown prices, which they dub “fashion-forward philanthropy”.

With Boots Riley’s signature surrealist style, this outrageous comedy explores a mind-bending odyssey through the world of high-fashion and low-rent economies.
