EARTH FIRST

Suggestions for a more sustainable future (a new department that will be added to regularly)

⬇️ The fastest and most effective natural way to remove shower mould is to use undiluted white vinegar or a combination of vinegar, baking soda, and tea tree oil. Unlike bleach, which only hides mould by whitening it, vinegar penetrates porous surfaces (like grout) to kill the root of the mould.

⬇️ If you’re still using classic incandescent light bulbs, when you move from room to room, try to switch the light off in the room you are leaving (assuming others aren’t in there). This is not only good stretching exercise but is saving energy. Careful though – if fluorescent or halogen lights are being switched on and off, that actually uses up more energy. So just your typical incandescent bulbs.

⬇️ In summer months, if the pipes in your home’s plumbing system are getting relatively hot, try taking showers with only the cold tap on. You might find the water temperature is just as nice if not better than with the hot tap on. You’ll also get to enjoy a shower with lighter pressure.
