For years, photographer Mike Ruiz has contributed his sexy brand of imagery to Cream. Name a celebrity worth their salt and chances are Ruiz has captured them in all their bright, decadent glory.
From Nicki Minaj to Ru Paul, Dolly Parton to Ian McKellan, there’s a certain magic vibe this photographer possesses that sees celebs unleash their fantastical selves.
Recently, Ruiz published a coffee table book, Pretty Masculine, that saw masculinity captured with a flamboyant edge, and just this month Ruiz released The Pretty Masculine App which offers fans of his work unprecedented access to Ruiz’s entire creative process.
“As an artist and photographer, I’ve always been interested in peeling back layers and portraying people out of context,” says Mike. “My goal with The Pretty Masculine App is to introduce a new way for people to consume art. The app is unique in the way it combines a photography showcase with interactive functionality and is the first of its kind released by a photographer.”
Indeed, the app features an interactive ‘Studio Section’ that allows users to upload their own photographs to give them a Pretty Masculine makeover; the images then able to be instantly uploaded onto Facebook, Twitter or shared via email.
