Ben Cousins on the run from the cops… again

BC @2x

Fallen ex-AFL star Ben Cousins is in trouble again, this time arrested for reckless driving and running away from the law – again.

The former West Coast Eagles player was picked up for driving haphazardly along Preston Point Road in Bicton at around 10.30pm last night, failing to stop after police signalled him, then continuing to run a series of red lights, later telling police he could not stop due to “a family emergency”.

Cousins was charged with reckless driving, running several red lights, and failing to submit to a breathalyser test. He was released on bail and is due to face court on April 8.

It is not the first time the ex-football hero has attempted to escape police. On February 17, 2006, Cousins abandoned his car and ran from officers near a breath-testing station in Perth. Ten days later, he was charged for abandoning his car on a highway when he tried to avoid a booze bus. These, along with many other legal run-ins, saw Cousins forced to walk away from his West Coast Eagles that same month.

Cousins’ most recent drug-related incident was on March 27, 2012, when Esperance police charged him with possession of methamphetamine with intent to supply or sell. He was in Esperance attending a drug rehabilitation clinic at the time.   Antonino Tati
