If Perth folk feel as though every inner-city suburb appears to be hosting its own festival these days, that’s probably because it’s true. Where a decade ago only Northbridge and Mt Lawley’s Beaufort Street strip were famous hubs of multicultural festival activity, now the likes of North Perth, Leederville, Inglewood, Subiaco and Claremont are hosting their own street festivals. Next up: Mount Hawthorn.

The City of Vincent and the Mount Hawthorn Hub present the inaugural Mount Hawthorn Streets and Laneways Festival on Sunday 3rd May, taking over streets and laneways from 12pm to 7pm.

Mount Hawthorn is one of Perth’s fastest evolving urban villages and possesses a unique sense of community and diversity. The precinct is well known for its neighbourly atmosphere while also popular for its pubs, bars, cafés and boutiques.

Highlights of the Mount Hawthorn Streets and Laneways Festival include market stalls, hawkers’ food outlets, pop-up galleries, DJs, a silent disco, live art skirmishes and roving performers
