The future looks bright for marriage equality

If you woke up with a rainbow of light glaring out of your computer or phone this morning as you logged into Facebook, it is with good reason.
Since Saturday morning, Facebook users who are all for marriage equality have placed a filter over their profile photograph that lends their image a rainbow tint.
The rainbow flag, of course, is representative of gay pride, and since the issue of marriage equality is currently honed in on gay, lesbian and transgender rights to marry, it’s fitting that this is the symbol currently catching on across the web.
Not only is social media abuzz with gay pride this weekend, but so too is the White House in Washington. Just as news hit on Friday night of the US Supreme Court’s ruling which no longer prohibits marriage between two people of the same sex, the north front of the White House was lit up in hues of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet as gay pride activists and tourists looked on.
Said President Obama of the ruling, “This is a big step in our march toward equality.”
