Prince to tour Oz: dates revealed

Set your clocks back and get set to party like it’s 1999. Well, perhaps not so much party as to reminisce all snazzy-style.

Master of all manner of musical genre, Prince, is coming to Australia to perform a series of concerts in something being dubbed ‘The Piano & Microphone’ tour.

The artist formerly known as and now known as that again will perform four shows at Melbourne State Theatre on February 16 and 17, two shows at the Sydney Opera House on February 20, and two shows at Sydney State Theatre on February 21. Prince will also perform for the very first time in New Zealand at Auckland’s ASB Theatre on February 24.

By the sounds of it, these will be fairly intimate shows – unless of course that piano and microphone are being hooked up to some mother-sized amps and great big Marshall stacks.

The repertoire will be culled from Prince’s vast 39-album catalogue and each performance will have a unique set-list that evolves in real time, song-to-song.
