Seven summer essentials to invest in
Summer is a beautiful time of the year – what with the warm weather and the numerous opportunities to hit the beach for a surf and a swim. It kinda sneaks up on you, and before you know it, you’re swapping cardigans for long, balmy nights under the stars drinking and socialising with your friends.
I, for one, cannot wait for it to be summer again. To help me to alleviate the sadness, I jump online and compile lists of things that I’m going to buy or invest in for the warmer months. I find that this kind of daydreaming works a treat to keep me happy, and I actually feel myself getting warmer when I plan my summer lust-have lists. I figure you could probably use a bit of that warming summer feeling – given how much winter is chilling everyone’s bones right now, so go on… Snuggle up, change your laptop background to some tricked-out beach pics and enjoy this list of seven summer essentials.

A banging swimsuit
Ok, so while you’re currently in hibernation mode with your body and could imagine no greater horror than slipping into a bikini, bear with me. Shopping for the perfect bikini could be just the inspiration you need to get into the gym now so that when the days are hot enough to head to the beach, you are one hundred percent ready to smash those waves. I love the bathers from FELLA Swimmers and find their cuts really flattering.
A round towel
You might have seen these popping up all over the place and I’ve got to tell you, there’s just something really cool about a round towel. Call me a sucker, but it seems more… I don’t know… luxurious? If that’s even possible. Invest in a round towel and watch your beach cred rise almost instantly.
Beach bags for days
With your cute-as swimsuit and brand new round towel, you can’t just get away with hauling it all around in an enviro green bag now, can you? No, you most certainly can not. Get thyself a super-cute beach bag and pack it full of snacks, drinks and a portable speaker to keep the good vibes rolling all dang day.
Sunglasses to keep your chill on
Glare from the beach and squinting into the eyes of your crush are not things that you want to be dealing with on the sand. Protect your peepers and give yourself the gift that keeps on giving when you have a rocking pair of shades. There are so many cool and relatively inexpensive choices nowadays – so you have no excuse.
A portable speaker
I know I mentioned this before – but I’ll say it again. Get a portable speaker. Get one now. They are so great for every particular occasion, and you’ll love the way that a party strikes up around you no matter where you are. Compile a playlist for the speakers and call it your Summer Jams mix or something, and watch the fun flow.
A tan
I don’t know if you can invest in a tan, but you will enjoy the payoff of sitting in the sun all day! It’s an investment, for sure. Don’t forget to slip, slop and slap though – you don’t want to invest in melanomas. That’s bad.
A big ol’ floppy hat
Again with the sun-smart stuff – but you really don’t want to get badly burned – especially on your face. It’s dangerous, and so ageing.
