A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

Aussie films celebrated at CinefestOZ

Whilst music festivals might be waning, film festivals are simply blooming. One such festival that’s going from strength to strength is CinefestOZ which recently revealed its 2016 program and continues its proud tradition of showcasing the best of Australian film.

Audiences are invited to explore a diverse program of quality shorts and features from Wednesday August 24 to Sunday August 28, across 68 venues and open spaces.

Says Festival CEO Malinda Nixon, “It’s a delight every year to hear the audience’s stories about the films they are discovering and [see them]sharing those discoveries with their friends. Exploring the program and the stunning South West region simultaneously ensures festival-goers have a uniquely self-tailored journey and that there really is something for everyone.”

With solid year-on-year annual growth in audience numbers, films and events, coupled with Australia’s richest film prize up for grabs, CinefestOZ has firmed up its reputation as a ‘must do’ for independent Australian filmmakers.

A film jury is also on hand to see that those films deserved of even greater recognition are shone under the spotlight, headed up by reputable filmmaker Gillian Armstrong. Also taking part in the film festivities are comedian-come-novelist-come-playwright Ben Elton, comedian, screenwriter and director Tim Ferguson, and one of Australia’s most-loved actors, Magda Szubanski.
