A horror classic gets a fresh take on pay TV
Halloween might be over for another year but television viewers continue their fascination with everything horror. Still very popular on the box at the moment are American Horror Story, Bates Motel, Hannibal, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Zombies.
Expect to see new TV series The Exorcist make this list shortly.
Widely regarded as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist broke box office records and terrified audiences worldwide in the late 1970s. Now, more than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film, The Exorcist returns as a TV series commencing December 4, Sundays at 8.30pm AEDT, on Foxtel’s showcase channel.
Based on the 1973 horror film, the series is a propulsive, psychological thriller that follows two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession. And with two religious forces battling the demons, the drama is bound to be aplenty.
What with special effects having improved immensely in the past four decades, we wait with bated breath for more head-spinning action. Michael Mastess
