APRA Song of the Year Top 20 Announced

APRA 2017 @2x

The Australasian Performing Right Association, otherwise known as APRA, helps music creators get paid for their work while also providing easier ways for music-makers and providers to legally play and copy what they like.

Each year, APRA announces its Song of the Year, and together with AMCOS has today revealed the top 20 contenders for this highly coveted title.

APRA’s Song of the Year remains an authentic recognition of local songwriting talent, and this year’s selection of songs is a reflection of the current diversity in Australian music – from rock to pop, country to blues.

With thousands of votes recorded over the last month, the song list features a mix of compositions by established songwriters including A.B. Original and Flume – with two songs each, Aussie veterans Nick Cave and Archie Roach, and a talent pool of fresh singer-songwriters that includes Amy Shark, Tash Sultana, D.D Dumbo and Julia Jacklin .

Previous Song of the Year winners Sia, Missy Higgins, Daniel Johns and Julian Hamilton also make an appearance in the Top 20.

All members who vote (go to www.apraamcos.com.au) instantly go into the draw to win a huge prize pack valued at around $10,000 courtesy of event sponsors Ableton, Delta Air Lines and Forbes Street Studios.

The 2017 APRA Music Awards will be held on Monday 3 April 2017 at the new International Convention Centre Ballroom in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.  Antonino Tati
