Blues Fest shaping up to be a beautiful thing
Branded Australia’s biggest blues and roots festival, Blues Fest 2017 is shaping up to be a massive affair of diversity.
On the bill already are Mary J. Blige, Patti Smith, Ricki Lee Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Billy Bragg, Laura Mvula, Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, The Doobie Brothers, The Lumineers, Madness, Joan Osborne and Jethro Tull. And that’s just a swag of the acts that are playing.
While the bill is sadly lacking in local artistry, Melbourne gal Courtney Barnett has just been announced to be performing, who, incidentally, is supporting Patti Smith on her current Australian tour.
Blues Fest is on in Byron Bay from Thursday 13 April to Monday 17 April. For tickets and more information visit www.bluesfest.com.au. Antonino Tati
