Blue movies…
So the Oscars are on this weekend and there’s quite a variety of films that have received a high number of nominations (14 for La La Land alone).
Now, the Smurfs may not be up for Best Animated Feature but this hasn’t stopped them little blue creatures from getting in on the nomination action.
Herewith are nine takes on Oscar-nominated flicks recreated with a Smurfs theme.
La La Land becomes La La La La La Land – with Smurfette and Brainy stepping into the dancing shoes of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Lion becomes Cat – with Gargamel’s moggie Azrael featured in the poster in place of Dev Patel. Smurfette dons pearls to become Jackie. Manchester By The Sea transforms into Village By The Sea… And, well, you get the picture.
This clever pre-Oscars tactic does have a bit of a purpose since it precedes a new Smurfs movie scheduled for release at the end of the month.
The animated feature will star the voices of Demi Lovato as Smurfette, Joe Manganiello as Hefty, Michelle Rodriguez as SmurfStorm and Julia Roberts as SmurfWillow in a rollercoaster plot of mystery, action and danger.
You have been Smurfed warned. Lisa Andrews
‘Smurfs: The Lost Village’ is in cinemas from March 30.
