California dreamin' (Coachella update)
Coachella looks set to be absolutely huge this year.
Luke Steele of Empire of the Sun and his stage partner Nick Littlemore are looking forward to being a part of this year’s festival, in a lineup that includes a host of Australian artists such as sample-meisters The Avalanches, alt-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Perth psyche-pop outfit Pond (read: one half of Tame Impala).
The international lineup at this year’s Coachella appears to be growing by the day, also boasting the likes of Bon Iver, Crystal Castles, DJ Shadow, Devendra Banhart, Kendrick Lamar, Klangstof, Maya Jane Coles, Roisin Murphy and tens of other acts making up one of the most eclectic festivals to date, genre-wise. Beyonce was going to appear but being so far into her pregnancy she’s given up her spot to Lady Gaga.
Two of electronic music’s greatest names also appear on the bill in the form of New Order and Radiohead, both of whom are expected to bring a batch of old-school favourites to the festival stage and sneak in some long-anticipated new material.
Also set to deliver a batch of new music is New Zealand singer Lorde, who promises to preview songs from her long-awaited second album.
Coachella is on over two weekends in Indio, California, from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th April, and Friday 21st to Sunday 24th April .
