After the pain felt across the UK in the last few weeks, the One Love Manchester benefit concert was always going to be more than just a gathering of music fans.
A crowd of over 55,000 filled the stands at Manchester’s Old Trafford on Sunday to show their support for the victims of the terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert last month.
With its star-studded lineup – boasting luminaries such as Coldplay, Liam Gallagher, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Ariana Grande herself- the One Love Manchester concert was all about the healing power of music.
Like her fans, it was Ariana Grande who was in need of some of healing after last month’s atrocity. And with a little help from her friends, Grande sang her heart out to the crowd and many more around the world.
No matter what happens to her career from here on, Ariana Grande, for at least this moment, has become more than just a pop star: she has become a pop saint. Chris Prindiville
