Molecular gastronomy, pop-up restaurants, artisanal foods: what was once considered too exotic, strange or sophisticated for ordinary tastes in Australia has now become very much to our taste.

Foodies across the country have never been more demanding when it comes to what goes on to their forks and into their mouths. It makes no difference whether you prefer to cook at home or dine out, signs of this food obsession are everywhere.

For the amateur cook, there are countless celebrity gurus to consult, each with their own unique insights and skill sets. Indeed, there is more than enough TV chefs to suit all tastes. For the diner, there are more eating places out there than ever before, both low-end and high-end, offering cuisine from all corners of the globe. And from all this, one thing is clear: it has never been a better time to be a foodie.

Perth is no different when it comes to this food obsession. Far from being cut off from the latest culinary trends, local foodies will have the chance to work out their tastebuds, and pick up new recipes and cooking tips, when the Good Food & Wine Show rolls in to town on July 14, 2017.

The celebrity chef line-up is a major drawcard and includes kitchen luminaries Manu Feildel, Matt Moran, Gary Mehigan, Jack Stein and Adam Liaw, who will take to the stage to show off their skills, offering advice along the way.

Plus there are plenty of other attractions such as mouth-watering produce offered up by local and international exhibitors, as well as an incredible range of artisanal food and beverages begging to be sampled. What’s not to drool over?  Chris Prindiville
