A double dose of delight
Just when you thought the world of food couldn’t get any weirder, along comes the doughnut ice-cream cone.
This latest dessert craze has now arrived in Australia, with sweet-toothed fiends already heading out in droves for a fix of cinnamon-crusted, ice-cream-filled goodness.
Perth’s Whisk Creamery has come up with its own versions of the delectable treat, which- surprise, surprise – are already selling like hotcakes (so to speak). According to manager David Nelva, an average of 60 cones are being sold on weekdays, with over 100 per day on weekends.
Even celebrity pastry chef Adriano Zumbo has gotten in on the act, introducing the doughnut cones in two of his Melbourne cafes.
Just how long this craze will last is anyone’s guess. But one thing is for sure: this more-than-a-spoonful of sugar goes down in the most delightful way. Chris Prindiville
