Miya Social: The new Bali local
There’s something wonderfully unpretentious about Miya Social. You can arrive for a serious coffee, stay for brunch, accidentally extend lunch into afternoon drinks and, before you know it, find yourself contemplating dinner. This is an all-day restaurant that doesn’t seem particularly interested in telling you what time of day you should be eating.
Opened in late 2025 on Jalan Raya Legian, Miya Social is one of the newer additions to the Eat Company family, the Bali hospitality group behind Bo & Bun and Wild Habit Pizza. At its culinary helm is chef-owner Yenni, who spent around 25 years working in Melbourne kitchens before bringing that experience back to Bali. Her cooking leans Modern Australian, with Mediterranean and Asian influences, and there’s a pleasing emphasis on uncomplicated food done properly.
The signature is the Miya Charcoal Chicken, and it’s easy to understand why. The chicken is brined and marinated for three days before being slow-cooked over charcoal, resulting in smoky, juicy meat and gloriously crisp skin. It comes with house-fermented hot sauce and a choice of mild, spicy or the intriguingly named “boomshakalaka”. This is not dainty café chicken. It arrives with attitude.
The menu keeps wandering happily from there. 24-Hour Pork Belly comes with truffle mash, charred cabbage and chicken jus; roasted tiger prawns arrive with peri-peri butter, lemon, seaweed and toasted sourdough; and there’s a 48-Hour Wagyu Beef Short Rib for anyone requiring their lunch to become a memorable event. Wood-fired pizzas bring a more casual option, while breakfast and brunch cover everything from corn fritters and pastrami eggs Benedict to Japanese katsu sandwiches and smashed avocado.
Miya Social is at Jl. Raya Legian No. 445, Legian.
