The art of Dior at NGV
When it comes to putting on a show, few do it better than the National Gallery of Victoria.
This August sees the running of the inaugural NGV Gala, a special black-tie evening of art, fashion, music, fine wine and food, where guests will enjoy exclusive first access to the world premiere exhibition The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture.
In what promises to be one of the major highlights on the Melbourne cultural calendar, the NGV will have acclaimed chef James Henry on hand to delight the tastebuds, while Grammy Award-winning singer and style icon Kimbra will be there to delight the eyes and ears.
Curated by Gala co-chairs Tony Ellwood, Director of the NGV, and Edwina McCann, Editor of Vogue Australia, guests will experience the NGV as it’s never been seen before, with visually stunning installations and experiential zones throughout the gallery.
Exclusive to Melbourne, The House of Dior: Seventy Years of Haute Couture is a collaboration between the NGV and the House of Dior and will feature a sumptuous display of over 140 garments from Christian Dior Couture designed 1947 to 2017. Australia has strong ties to The House of Dior from its inception, with the representative parade outside of Paris held in David Jones in 1948.
If you looking to spend an evening in impeccable style, then the NGV is the place to be. To be anywhere else just wouldn’t be fashionable. Chris Prindiville
The NGV Gala will be held on August 26 at the NGV International, Melbourne.
