It ought to have happened, like, 10 years ago. Indeed, it’s taken a while for designer label Calvin Klein to cotton on to the Kardashian-Jenner hype and finally invite the clan to appear in one of their campaigns. I mean, with that capital K in the cK brand, and all, you’d think some smartass at a boutique agency would have thought of the idea way back – especially considering Calvin Klein’s cache on the fashion circuit has been on the wane for some time.
Alas, five of the Kardashian-Jenner siblings finally appear in a new ad campaign for cK knickers and bras, an apparent attempt to regain some of their lost fashion clout (having babies and intra-family dramas did kind of put modelling on the backburner).
Several Kardashian-Jenner fans have already taken to social media to critique the campaign, which features an image (above) that appears to have seen the airbrushing gone very wrong. See if you can spot the odd shape of Kim Kardashian’s left arm. There she is, laying in the centre, looking like her arm has either (a) been Photoshopped to anorexic degree, or (b) gotten squashed between a chicken breast.
Check out the ad, too, which even the most ardent of fans are admitting is cringe-worthy, featuring the siblings ‘confessing’ to “Never having ever” done this or that (eg: “Never have I ever gotten a tattoo”). It’s contrived and gratuitous and daft all at once. But then what else would you expect from this lot of vane, inane attention-seekers? Lisa Andrews
