Ed Sheeran sued again; this time for ripping off Marvin Gaye

He may often be at the top of the charts and riding high on success and record sales but he also has his share of lows, that Ed Sheeran.

Following a $20 million lawsuit over his song Photograph a few years, he was then sued for further copyright infringement for the song he wrote for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, The Rest of Our Life.

But as they say, third time’s a charm, and Sheeran is being sued once again for his more recent single Thinking Out Loud, with owners of the copyright claiming he’s lifted from Marvin Gaye’s hit of 1972, Let’s Get It On. And they’re seeking $100 million in damages!

If Sheeran has been pilfering pop music from the past, here’s a little tip: Why don’t you just go the official route and ask to pay for copyright, buddy? You’re rolling in the money so that shouldn’t be a problem (well, until you’ve got to pay up for all these lawsuits), and you’ll probably get more attraction to a track if you just blatantly tell your audience what’s inspired it.
