More bizarre footage has leaked online featuring Joaquin Phoenix dressed in full clown makeup as ‘The Joker’, with fans of DC Comics’ clown prince getting a better taste of what to expect from the forthcoming movie in the Batman franchise.
In the clip above Phoenix appears as an ‘early days’ Joker, in a phone booth in downtown Dumbo, Brooklyn, casually conversing with an unknown person, suddenly breaking down and crying.
Constant camera clicks can be heard in the background, which sound like a combination of clicks by official on-set photographers (for posterity later on) and intrigued public passersby.
Other footage from the forthcoming Todd Phillips-directed film (temporarily titled Joker) sees Joaquin casually stepping off a train as chaos ensues behind him (see clip below), and Joaquin as his initial character – plain-dressed ‘Arthur Fleck’ (pre-Joker) – chatting nonchalantly to some clown wannabe (see bottom of this article).
The film’s plot is being kept under wraps however we do know it follows the backstory of Batman’s main nemesis, basically telling the tale of how Arthur Fleck got to become ‘The Joker’.
The film will co-star Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy (of Six Feet Under and American Horror Story fame), and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2).
Bradley Cooper is on board as a co-producer. Antonino Tati
The Joker movie is slated for release October 4, 2019.
