When a hotel morphs into a record label…

First came the hotels. Then came the dance parties. Now comes the record label.
The W Hotels chain is venturing into the music business, having launched its own record label this week.
Aptly dubbed W Records, artists will be recording at W Sound Suites, the brand’s on-site recording studios dotted across Bali, Barcelona, Hollywood and Seattle.
The music will be released digitally and as limited-edition vinyl records, and the first record off the rank is by New York R&B singer Amber Mark.
But why would W want to invest in an industry that isn’t making big bucks for artists and producers, unless there’s touring involved? Probably because of those aforementioned dance parties.
W is famous for hosting some of the biggest music events in the world and it wouldn’t be surprising if a whole bunch of their own artists begin making their way to these big gigs.
For now, tune into what Amber Mark has to offer… Antonino Tati
