Things aren’t looking too sweet for Dolce & Gabbana… This time it’s a racial thing
Dolce & Gabbana are in a spot of strife after posting a series of videos deemed racist, if not patronising.
The clips featured a Chinese model unsuccessfully attempting to eat oversized Italian foods with a pair of chopsticks. In the clips, the model laughs at her own ineptitude as a voiceover makes crude jokes about her “not knowing how to handle something so big”.
The backlash has not only seen many on social media criticising the designer duo and calling for a boycott of the brand, but has forced them to cancel their show in Shanghai this week – which was set to be their biggest ever in 33 years.
Within hours of criticism over the clips, high profile fashion figures began pulling out of the show including several models who were set to walk the runway.
