R. Kelly’s bond has been set at $1 million, after the rapper and singer had been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse yesterday.
Kelly, aged 52, was charged $250,000 for each of the four cases of criminal sexual abuse which took place between 1998 and 2010.
The alleged victims were identified by the judge and legal documents only by their initials.Three of the victims were minors.
R. Kelly was placed in handcuffs after having given himself in to a Chicago police station on Friday night, several hours after he was indicted.
His lawyer, Steven Greenberg, insists his client is innocent and says Kelly has succumbed to public pressure and is acting as a “sacrificial lamb”, despite the discovery of a sex tape depicting Kelly with an underage girl.
