RuPaul confirms a three-week test run for new daytime talk show

Get ready for some fresh prime time entertainment, hunties!

RuPaul has confirmed that the contract is signed, sealed and delivered, and he’ll be presenting a three-week test run of his new talk show, beginning June 10.

After hosting The RuPaul Show on VH1 and having continuing success with RuPaul’s Drag Race , Drag Race Untucked, and Drag Race Allstars, the world’s most famous drag-queen-come-king-of-comedy (and talk!) is adding another feather to his cap.

“I’m a Scorpio, and the truth of the matter is I’m actually really heavy and serious. I think the way I balance it and keep it at a really nice level is, come lights on, I’m turned on, and I don’t take myself that seriously.”

The talk show will be filmed in front of a live studio audience, and will feature Ru interviewing celebrities and current news-makers, tips on health and wellbeing, and of course the occasional bit of good goss.

Entertainment value aside, Ru says the show will have a strong focus on empowerment and aspirational messages for everyday viewers.

“Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history,” says Ru. “Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”

The show is being co-produced by World of Wonder and Telepictures, the latter in fact a huge production house that falls under the Warner Bros. umbrella and already looks over Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime show.

With that kind of backing, Ru’s future looks bright, as if we weren’t blinded by his/her brilliance already.

If you’re wondering how RuPaul manages to give so much to the camera – both serious and fun – the answer might lie in what he told Cream back in 1994 when he was just starting on the entertainment scene:

“I’m a Scorpio, and the truth of the matter is I’m actually really heavy and serious. I think the way I balance it and keep it at a really nice level is, come lights on, I’m turned on, and I don’t take myself that seriously.”

‘RuPaul’ will air in a three-week test run from June 10, 2019.
