Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort can boast yet another reason for its growing superiority in the heart of one of the world’s best-known beach areas.
Every Sunday between 12pm and 3pm, the resort offers a Feast Market Brunch, where guests get to select their preferred dishes from a succulent selection of seafood, meats and fresh vegetables. Add to this a bar service that is second-to-none, and shopping options right next door, and you kind of understand why #sipsavorshop has become this dining event’s online social tag.
You can forget the ‘a la carte’ concept altogether here for there are no paper menus. Just plenty of choices of fresh ingredients to choose from – and a glorious gourmet smorgasbord to take your time indulging in.
Officially Kuta’s only market brunch, the setup of the place – which is ordinarily reserved for breakfast and night-time dining – is transformed into a rustic-like market. There’s a fruit and vegetable stand, a seafood station, and a barbeqeue/grill area, where guests get to pick from the freshest ingredients to have dishes cooked their way.
This particular meal is an excellent opportunity to have that steak you like perfectly cooked, those prawns marinated in that perfect sauce, those vegetables blanched a particular way, or that fruit pureed into the perfect smoothie.
Heck, if you really want to, you can buy some of the groceries yourself to take home, Which we would have loved to do, but since we had a plane to catch in three hours, we thought it be best to leave the good stuff behind for others to enjoy.

Yes, as impressive as the best two-hat restaurants back home… but as much of it as you like.
That said, once you’ve ordered from the seafood and meat stations, your food will arrive in small portions, so as you can save room to try a lot more variety, but if a full fish or large shank is what you’re craving, you simply need ask for it.
Of course, being dubbed a ‘brunch’ means a smorgasbord option is here, too, and the Sheraton’s smorgasbord boasts an amazing variety of multicultural cuisines.
There is station after station of glorious dishes covering cuisines from all corners of the globe: antipasto and rich pastas (Italy), duck al’ orange and nicoise salad (France), dim sum (China), a tsunami of sushi and tepanyaki (Japan), curries of all kinds (Indian, Malaysian, Vietnamese, and of course Indonesian), even mini pork pies (Australian – kinda – which made us feel at home).
If vegetarian is your preferred avenue of dining, rest assured there are plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. Just let the waiters know your dietary restrictions and they’ll point you in the right direction.
As for the incredible array of desserts, bright colour and rich flavour are key here. Everything from oriental jellies to continental cakes, fruit flans to macarons (shaped like apples and pears!) are on display like treats in a giant east-meets-west patisserie.
The service here is fast and efficient. If anything, some of the staff seem to eager to impress, asking you regularly if everything is alright. You feel like pointing to the abundance of glorious food on display and responding with a might loud ‘Hell, yeah!’

The drinks menu is extensive also, with a vast array of cocktails and mocktails, fine wines, and local and imported craft beers at the ready for you to pair with your preferred dishes. At a further cost you can ask for non-stop champagne, but we’ll leave the bubbles option up to you.
Whether you enjoy tapas-style dining, roasts freshly carved, seafood seasoned to your liking, or tenderloin cooked to your liking, the Sheraton Bali Kuta’s Feast Market Brunch is the place to enjoy it all.
