Netflix set a premiere date for its ‘Dark Crystal’ reboot series
Just in case you haven’t seen enough ’80s nostalgia on the telly – from The Goldbergs to Stranger Things and reboots aplenty – Netflix has announced it will stream its prequel to The Dark Crystal on August 30th, 2019.
The original installment was renowned for its animatronics – back then quite innovative.
Its full title The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the series’ setting will precede that of Jim Henson’s classic 1982 film in which a Gelfling named Jen sets off on a mission to restore balance to his world by returning the broken shard of a particularly powerful gemstone.
In the new series there will be more of a Gelfling rebellion, where three of the delicate-faced beauties learn a horrible secret about Skeksis’ power and set out on a quest to save their world once more.
The original installment was renowned for its animatronics – back then quite innovative, and now – with technology having progressed in leaps and bounds – you can expect the live animation to be absolutely amazeballs.
