YouTube sensation and self-appointed ‘King of Random’ Grant Thompson has died in a paragliding crash

The producer and presenter of YouTube’s very popular ‘King of Random’ videos has died in a paragliding crash in Utah, USA.

Grant Thompson, aged 38, was discovered dead on Monday afternoon, according to a Washington county police report.

Thompson’s YouTube channel has over 11.3 million subscribers with more than 2.3 billion video, making it the 321st most subscribed channel on YouTube.

The clips featured everything from experiments and household tips to dangerous challenges involving explosions. In fact, Thompson made headlines last year for explosions going off in his Salt Lake City backyard for which he was put on criminal charges.

As part of a plea deal, Thompson agreed with the court to create more ‘safety-themed’ and videos, and clips featuring household tips.

One of his most popular clips showed viewers how to make gummy lollies shaped like Lego bricks. It alone attracted has attracted over 34 million views.

The cause of the paragliding accident is being investigated.
