The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’ 50th anniversary celebrated with a bunch of fresh iterations of the famous LP
While each and every Beatles album is a gem in its own right, few may know that the band’s biggest selling record, in its original run, was Abbey Road.
This year, Abbey Road celebrates its 50th Anniversary and is getting the super-deluxe treatment.
The LP will be commemorated with the release of a boxed set that includes a new Giles Martin mix of each track plus two discs’ worth of outtakes from the 1969 Abbey Road recording sessions.
Besides the super-deluxe box with four discs, there will be a two-disc version that includes the original album and one CD of outtakes, as well as a single disc that only spotlights the new Martin mix.
Alongside select editions will be the inclusion of a 100-page hardbound book featuring a forward penned by Paul McCartney.
Vinyl aficionados will be happy to hear that a three-LP vinyl version and a single-disc picture disc are also being issued.
All these fresh versions and packages of Abbey Road will be released September 27th through Universal Music.
Seven weeks to keep saving your pennies, then.
