Mary J. Blige to join the cast of ‘Power’ sequel: ‘Power Book II: Ghost’
No more drama? Who is she kidding?
Grammy winner, Oscar nominee, Cream cover star, and all-round awesome human Mary J. Blige (The Umbrella Academy) is joining the cast of the first Power sequel, Power Book II: Ghost, with all episodes coming soon to Stan.
“We’re pleased to announce that we’re in pre-production on the first of what we know will be a collection of series inspired by the dynamic world of Power,” said executive producers Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
‘Power Book II: Ghost’ will continue the journey of some of the series’ most controversial characters with Blige’s role sure to be a pivotal one.
“This is probably the most exciting thing that’s going to happen to me this year,” said Blige, often dubbed the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and currently making a great name for herself on stream TV, since starring as a quirky assassin in Stan’s The Umbrella Academy.
“I’ve been a fan of Power since the very beginning and I want to thank Courtney and 50 Cent for starting this conversation with me.”
If you’re not caught up yet, you will be.
Power is a punchy drama that straddles the glamorous (and sometimes seedy) lifestyles of the rich and infamous in the Manhattan drug-dealing underworld. The show features a brilliant cast led by Omari Hardwick as James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick, a dude trying to escape his role as a drug kingpin so as to try and live a legitimised life among the elite of NYC.
Power Season 6 is currently being broadcast in two parts. The 10-episode Part I premiered on Stan on Sunday 25th August while Part II – which will consist of the final five episodes – will debut on Stan in January next year.
Stan is also streaming Power Confidential, an exclusive companion piece to the ultimate season of the hit series. The “after-show” is available to watch immediately following the premiere of each new episode of Power.
Don’t be confused by it all; just watch the damn thing. It’s awesome and awe-inspiring.
