A cool blend of contemporary & retro culture

First trailer of ‘The Grudge’ 2020 just dropped and it’s eerie at first… then downright twisted

It’s a horror film so bold and captivating, even when it gets a reboot, its producers refuse to see it run by any other title.

A reimagining of the 2004 American remake of the Japanese horror flick ‘Ju-On’ (phew), ‘The Grudge’ will be released in cinemas on January 30, 2020.

This is the fourth installment in The Grudge film series, with events taking place at the same time as those of the 2004 film. See the trailer, below, featuring eerie footage and lots of static.

Directed by Nicolas Pesce, The Grudge will star Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, John Cho, Betty Gilpin with Lin Shaye and Australia’s own Jacki Weaver.

The film has been written and directed by Takashi Shimizu and produced by Sam Raimi.

Writers have hinted the character of Kayako Saeki – who played a central part in the previous three installments – will not feature in the reboot.

I guess some grudges don’t last forever, after all.
