The trailer for the new Batman movie dropped yesterday and the key theme is dark. Very dark.
Warner Bros. debuted the first teaser trailer for The Batman, featuring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader in a setting that looks beyond dystopian.
Gotham City is overrun with crime by various gangs and one very disturbed lone wolf, pulling Batman out of the shadows and into his tough suit to figure out how to stop it all.
The trailer is set to the haunting soundtrack of the Nirvana song Something In The Way and reveals more than just a trimmed-down Batman (Robert Pattinson is as buffed as he can get, which is not too heavy, really).
There’s a revamped Batmobile, and glimpses of Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle – the alter-ego of Catwoman, plus a couple of references to Joker wannabes.
At time of publishing the trailer had already racked up 10 million views in less than 24 hours, which would make Warner Bros. very happy, considering there’s over a year of hype left to go on this one.
The Batman is out in cinemas October 1, 2021.
