Aussie fashion brand Country Road pledges $600k to biodiversity projects

Country Road is as iconic an Australian fashion brand as Ugg Boots or Akubra. Perhaps not as popular in the bogan suburbs as the former, or as veteran-like as the latter, but iconic just the same.
Now it’s set to make a bigger mark as it joins hands with Landcare Australia, pledging $600,000 over three years to help rebuild Australia’s biodiversity.
The eco deal was announced today and will focus on making fashion for the brand more sustainable, in particular its latest Sweats Range.
Country Road’s commitment includes keeping its carbon footprint as light as possible which is good news, since the the fashion industry is one of the world’s most polluting industries, emitting tons of carbon into the atmosphere, dyes into the waters, and cutting down lots of plants for all that cotton, etc.

The new relationship between Country Road and Landcare will focus on supporting farmers and protecting wildlife, with the Aussie brand committing $200,000 per year for the next three years to the various Landcare projects.
