THE NEW RETRO-MODERN

Supanova Sydney cancelled three weeks after Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth called off

The Supanova 2020 convention has been cancelled in Sydney, three weeks after announcements were made the event would be called off across Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

Events were originally scheduled and rescheduled November 2020 but due to some restrictions in certain states, and with border issues still in the air, events in NSW, QLD, SA and WA have all been cancelled.

Supanova organisers said in a press statement: “Unfortunately … restrictions are [not] projected to be lifted in a timeframe that would enable us to effectively plan and deliver the calibre of show our community deserves.”

Supanova is a celebration of fandom, where the worlds of film and television, fantasy, comic books, anime, sci-fi, cartoons, books, gaming and collectables come together under the one huge roof.

The Supanova 2021 calendar looks like adhering to business as usual, with April penciled in for Melbourne and the Gold Coast, June for Sydney and Perth, and November for Brisbane and Adelaide.
