Perth and Peel to return to pre-lockdown life from midnight Saturday night / Sunday morning
It’ll be the loveliest Valentines a politician could give you: Mark McGowan has announced that from midnight Saturday night / Sunday morning, Perth will return to pre-lockdown life.
This means transitional restrictions will end as promised, with a sense of normality to return to the Perth and Peel regions.
Contact registers for potential tracing will still be manditory for businesses and nightlife venues – which means we’ll have to fill in those check-in forms still, or scan using the government contact tracing QR code.
There will be no requirement to continue wearing masks, and the best bit: no restriction on travel within WA.

Fremantle is sure to come alive too this Saturday from midnight.
On an interstate note, the Controlled Interstate Border for New South Wales and Victoria will be looked at again by Premier Mark McGowan. So far, a hard border rule with Victoria may be re-instated for 72 hours, pending a review.
Of course all of this is pending, assuming there are no new local cases. Given Perth’s past luck in the scheme of things, we’re pretty confident it’s going to be a free-moving from Valentine’s Day onward.
