Donald Trump has finally been indicted for alleged hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels

Former US president, millionaire and reality TV host Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury, it was announced overnight, making him the first former president to face a criminal charge and putting a black mark on his bid to make it into the White House again next year.

The indictment focused on payments made in 2016 to former adult entertainer star Stormy Daniels, who claims Trump paid her large sums of money to hush her up during the pre-elections of that year.

In the past, Donald Trump has faced criminal investigations on various issues ranging from interference in public voting to alleged financial fraud.

Of course, America being as star-infatuated a nation as it is, it was a porn star who got an ex-president into serious trouble.

While Trump has denied having sex with Daniels and that any payment had nothing to do with the election he’d won, prosecutors found that his method of repaying – in US$35,000 monthly increments – was illegal.

The indictment occurs just as the national presidential race for 2024 takes off. If formerly charged with a crime, Donald Trump will be the first president.

It is yet to be said if Trump will face prison time if convicted.
