I’m a stickler for honey. I don’t care much for herbal tea but if you put a spoonful of honey in it, I’ll drink it. Cereals bore me, but drizzle a little honey over the top and I’ll eat the good oats. When ordering Chinese food, there’s usually a honeyed dish in there. But honey on pizza? Who’d have thunk it? Pizza Hut, that’s who!

In fact, diving deep into this phenomenon, I realise Pizza Hut’s Hot Honey Pizza has developed a bit of a cult following, hence it’s return on the menu this week. The concept and delivery is pretty simple: warm chilli-infused honey is drizzled over stuffed crust pepperoni pizza (or thin and crispy if you prefer) to add to a favourite that is already packed with texture and flavour. One bite and I discovered the sweet-then-spicy flavour kick that folks have been getting excited about online.

Indeed, the range plays on the viral hot honey trend that dominated TikTok and food culture for a few months, giving your usual pizza a sticky sweetness that hits first, followed by a gentle heat that lingers.

The combination of salty pepperoni and sweet chilli honey is unexpectedly delicious, elevating a straightforward pepperoni pizza into something more layered.
