Delta Goodrem announced as Australia’s representative in this year’s Eurovision contest so all is now fixed on the Aussie music representation front

Delta Goodrem has got it pretty good. She gets to record and release music when the time is right, can feel warm and fuzzy about mentoring other fledgling music artists (it’s good to be ‘Mother’ on occasion), and is not so grossly popular that she oversaturates the media, be it legacy, independent or social.
Ask anyone in Australia what they think of Delta and they’ll likely give you a thumbs-up, or a casual “she’s alright”. As a music artist, her music may sometimes sound a little middle-of-the-road and we sometimes wish she’d go a bit Joni Mitchell / Tori Amos on our asses and get more poetic/esoteric, but her songs are never offensive to anyone; in fact, with their recurring themes of love and awe, we kind of need some of that MOR right now.
Soon, the world will know what good this girl gives when she takes to the global stage to represent Australia in the 2026 Eurovision Contest. Yep, it’s been announced that Delta is Australia’s pick for Eurovision 2026 and we couldn’t be happier. She’ll perform at the 70th anniversary of the event being held in Vienna, Austria and I’m sure she’ll be bring a sense of style to the proceedings to help fix our nation’s musical rep after last year’s tacky entry by DIY dag Go-Jo.
Delta will take to the stage at the Wiener Stadthalle this May to perform her new single Eclipse, bringing her signature vocals, lush pop soundscapes and a confident live presence to one of the world’s biggest live music events, with some 160 million viewers set to tune in.
Having written songs for Eurovision winner Celine Dion and worked alongside Olivia Newton-John, it’s no surprise that Eclipse gives Celine/Olivia vibes but the vocal is unmistakently Delta – backed by epic choral accompaniment that says, ‘World, this song’s for you’.

Said Delta in a media release: “I’m so honoured to represent Australia at Eurovision. As a singer-songwriter, music has been my lifelong passion. And I’ve always loved the creativity, individuality and joy Eurovision brings, connecting people across the globe through music – the universal language.”
Released today, Eclipse connotes that moment when shadow and light fall into harmony – a metaphor for clarity, alignment and stepping into your purpose – whether that be realising what you’re going to do that hour, afternoon, or for the rest of your own life.
There are lovely classical piano motifs, sweeping strings and a climactic finish that are sure to leave international audiences impressed.
Now, what to wear? I vote for Akira, Nicola, or something custom-made by Camilla. Something stylish but wow!
